Enrichment Dog Daycare

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of my wife’s passing. She died unexpectedly, she had not been sick or hadn’t had any accident. I was devastated and this event changed the course of my life.

We had started our dog training business together, but now I decided I wanted  a full-time career working with dogs. This was the moment A Walk in the Park was born. It has always been more than just a business to me; it's a labor of love, dedicated to her memory and our shared vision.

From the very beginning, our mission has been clear: to provide dog-centered care. Whether it's daycare, boarding, grooming, or training, we put the experience of our furry guests first. We believe that happy, healthy dogs are at the heart of everything we do.

Starting and running a small business has never been an easy task. As a business owner, you wear many hats and need to know a little something about everything. Over the years, I've faced numerous obstacles and challenges, from finding the right team to dealing with employee disappointments and tough decisions.

But that's the beauty of this journey. It's about growth, resilience, and learning. Today, I can proudly say that we have the best team we've ever had - a dedicated and passionate group of individuals who share our commitment to canine well-being.

Throughout the years, we've welcomed countless dogs into our facility, each with their own unique personalities and quirks. We've also encountered pet parents who may not have fully understood our approach or expectations. Some had unrealistic demands, while others didn't follow our protocols.

But here's what matters most: we have the most fantastic supporters. It's your unwavering support and trust in us that keeps us going. Your appreciation and the joy your dogs experience during their visits are our greatest rewards.

As we step into 2024, I can't help but feel incredibly optimistic. Our programs have never been better, our dogs are enjoying their visits more than ever, and we're continuously growing and learning from every experience.

Yes, starting and running a business has been challenging, but it's also been profoundly rewarding. I find inspiration in the boundless enthusiasm of our staff, the appreciation of our pet parents, and, most of all, the infectious energy of the dogs. I wish my wife could have seen this.

A Walk in the Park is not just a business; it's a community, a family, and a labor of love. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Here's to making 2024 our best year ever!

With gratitude and warm regards,

Dirk Broersma, Owner, A Walk in the Park Dog Daycare
